Kemipilot

Sort hazardous waste correctly - the first time

Kemipilot is an app for recycling centres and industrial sites. The employee holds the phone up to the container, and the app recognises the product and tells them where it goes - even when the label is worn or the barcode is half gone.

Also recognises batteries and pressure cylinders - and tells you which container they go in.

58,000+ chemical products in the catalogue
7,500+ safety data sheets read, with source
2.1 million product pages reviewed from 450+ websites
<1 s answer on the phone, about 10 s for a new product

The problem is at the gate every day

A resident arrives with an unmarked can, a half-empty tin of paint and a weed killer from 1998. The employee has seconds to decide where it goes - and a wrong decision is expensive in several ways.

Misrouting costs money

Hazardous waste in the wrong container means a rejected load, extra handling and, at worst, a reaction between incompatible substances.

The knowledge sits in people's heads

The experienced staff know the products by heart. New employees, stand-ins and temps do not - and the reference book is in the office.

The label is gone

The packaging is faded, soaked or peeled. That is exactly where a classic barcode scanner stops helping.

How it works

No menus, no typing. The employee opens the app and holds up the phone - the rest happens by itself.

  1. Point the camera at the product

The app continuously reads barcode, product name, brand, hazard symbols and packaging shape directly on the device. There is no button to press.

  2. Fragments are enough

Half barcodes and a few legible words are combined into one signal that is looked up in the catalogue. A couple of letters and four digits are often enough.

  3. The answer comes immediately

Fraction, UN number, ADR class, H-statements and a short handling guide - in Danish, in large type, built for outdoor use.

  4. If the app does not know it, it asks

Unknown products are automatically passed on to an AI analysis of the picture. The answer is saved, so the next lookup is instant.

For your site

Kemipilot is built for operations, not for demos. That means few prerequisites, no new hardware and an administration module that shows what is actually happening on the site.

Dashboard and reports

See scans per location, the most frequent products, unknown finds and the development over time.

The location is recognised automatically

The position of the scan is matched to the right location, so the statistics are right without anyone picking from a list.

Employees correct mistakes

If a suggestion is wrong, the employee corrects it on the spot. The correction goes into a review queue and improves the catalogue for every location.

Own phone, no equipment to install

The app runs on ordinary Android phones and on iPhone (by invitation). Login is a one-time code to the work email - once, and you are in.

Works with a weak signal

Contributions and pictures are queued and sent when the connection is back. The employee does not notice.

Data stays in the EU

Operated on European infrastructure. No resale of data, and access can be closed for an employee in an instant.

See what has been scanned - and how much

The site manager gets an overview of what comes in to the location and in what quantities: by type of waste, time of day and location.

Where does the knowledge come from?

The catalogue is built from publicly available safety data sheets and product data from Danish retailers and authorities - collected with respect for each site's rules.

  • Safety data sheets (SDS) from manufacturers and retailers: H-statements, CLP classification, MAL codes and UN numbers.
  • Data from the Danish Environmental Protection Agency on pesticides and approved products.
  • Hazard symbols and packaging recognised by a model trained on images from real sites.
  • Employees' own corrections are reviewed manually before they become catalogue data.
  • Never a guess without a label: when the app is unsure, it says so - it does not make up a fraction.

We start small: one location, a team of employees and an agreed period in which we measure together what the app actually recognises - and fix what does not work. Tell us briefly who you are, and we will call or write back.
